I've worked with Stephen for the past couple of months and I'm delighted with how far I've come in correcting bad habits and improving my movement. I started attending Functional Patterns training in 2022. I began training with Functional Patterns to improve my scoliosis. The training is precise, thorough and accurate for each case. I have seen huge improvement in my scoliosis since I started training at functional patterns. My scoliosis curve has decreased by 12 degrees in two years, from consistently doing the exercises prescribed to me by both Paul and Stephen. I was over the moon when I seen my curve had decreased and my aim is to decrease my curve even more to make my spine more mobile and straighter. I would recommend Functional Patterns to anyone who is wishing to improve their scoliosis or any injury. The guys really know what they are doing! They motivate you, support you and give you honest guidance. It is the only form of physical therapy that worked for me. I thank Tom for opening the clinic in Dublin back in the day, as the work they do helps many people. I started doing FP 2 years ago, after a shoulder injury. I tried physio, and some light exercises, as rest was really not an option for me. 3 months I kept coming back to square one. Then I decided to give FP a go. After my first session (appraisal session) I could move my arm better and with less pain then during 3 previous months. After about 2-3 months of weekly sessions I became stronger and confident to go back to the gym on my own. Now I do FP maintaince sessions every 2-4 weeks. Have been a regular visitor to Stephen for a few years now.Prior to FP I have had back pain for at least 15 years, and hip pain for the 5 of them years. During that time I went to a chiropractor almost monthly, while also trying multiple physios, and osteopaths.The fixes were always short lived, and I was then back to square one.With FP however, this changed, I have not had back pain for quite a few years now, and my hips are still tight but no pain like before.I see this as a work in progress, and I am getting better each time as long as I stick to the prescribed exercises etc.I am also no longer getting injured in the gym as my whole approach to exercise and functional movement has evolved with FP, this is the biggest benefit where I can consistently keep going to the gym whereas before I would regularly take breaks due to injuries.I highly recommend FP for anyone wanting to get their body on track and moving injury free. I spent one week learning and training with practicioners from FP Dublin. All I can say is that if you are searching for solutions to your pain or you just want to get to know how to move with efficiency and reach your goals you are in the best place. I’ve been working with functional patterns practitioners on and off for many years due to severe lower back issues that required 2 surgeries over many years. They have a fantastic setup onsite but equally can extract great results online with some basic tools that you can buy online or even at your local sports store so don’t be afraid if you’re not near Dublin. Let’s keep it up!! 💪 I have trained with Stephen in Functional Patterns for almost 2 years now.When I first went to him I was dealing with ongoing neck, shoulder and back pain. I had been to physiotherapy with no relief and recurrence of the same pain time and time again. Within weeks of working with Stephen I saw an improvement and I was able to maintain this progress. 2 years on I can say it has made a huge difference to my pain levels and posture and I have learned so much about what type of exercise the body needs. Totally recommend I remember preparing for the DCM and attending physios with back pain for months and getting no relief except been taped up and told to take it easy, which I never do!! One evening I read an article about FP and decided to contact them. I had my initial assessment at the end of August and told them that not running the DCM was not an option. The lads were brilliant and gave me the corrective exercises to do leading up to it and though not completely pain-free, I ran DCM and pb’d.After that I stopped running to try and undo all the damage I had done from gyms and weights etc. I had scoliosis, hip hike and knee pain. Although I’ve had to dig deep plenty of times to keep practicing the FP exercises, I can say that I can now run completely pain-free. I still attend Tom whose patience I have tried on numerous occasions but he has been brilliant, giving me easy to follow cues for the movements and explaining everything in detail. I've worked with Tom for years now through online sessions. I'm always very impressed with his base of knowledge and ability to see what my body needs at the right time. I graduated in Physical Education and working in the fitness industry for more than 13 years, I’m curious and I’ve been practising different activities since I was a kid. I am a physiotherapist from Germany and had chronic lower back pain for about 10 years something. With all my education I wasn´t able to solve my problems until I got help from Justin. We started online training and I thought there´s no way that someone can fix my chronic problems when he isn´t even here in person but I was ready to give it a shot... sure enough after a few sessions I started to feel a massive relief and drop in pain levels and a few weeks after that I was completely pain free. Suitable for all ages as myself (29) and my mother (63) have been going here for just over a month now. Exercises are catered to individual needs and our trainer Justin is unbelievable. He has so much passion for the style of training and is very compassionate and motivating towards his clients. If I ever need him, he's there for us. Ive gone to Justin for numerous pains and aches , most notably was plantar facitis . Through justins knowledge and hardwork and a fair bit of pain , my foot pain has totally disappeared. I visited plenty other professionals about this but by far Justin was the best . Only recently pulled and twisted a muscle in my calf which again Justin worked thru this . Cant recommend him enough. If i ever come across any pains again he is the first person i will contact. I've been training with Stephen for a year, once a week.A good friend recommended him to me. I am 60 years old and suffer from advanced arthrosis in my left hip, the inflammatory pain was extreme, I took strong painkillers every day. I received physiotherapy, osteopathic, orthopedic and alternative treatment. I was advised by everyone to have a hip replacement fitted, which I refused. I had completed the 10 week online program from functionalpatterns, felt it was good for me but didn't get any further. Stephen taught me one exercise after the other with incredible patience. He explained every connection to me in detail. He showed me how to activate and train muscles that I didn't even notice before. He re-centered me, re-balanced me and gave me an understanding of my dysfunctions. We do online training as I live in germany. I receive photos and videos of our sessions every week, then practice for myself. I need explanations for movement sequences again and again. Stephen teaches me patience and preciseness! He’s always fully concentrated and focused and doesn’t let me get away with „old patterns“. He always manages to push me to my peak performance on that particular day.My muscles are much stronger than they were a year ago and I have a lot more confidence in myself again! These lads are masters of their craft! I have suffered recurring back issues for around 15 years and lost count of how many Physio’s and doctors I have been to to manage the symptoms. Recently I have been to a few sessions with Justin in functional patterns and it has genuinely changed everything. I understand the route cause and how to address. The first analysis session is invaluable, you don’t get that tailored deep dive explanation anywhere else.On second session I got some great deep tissue release done too in my shoulder which is another problem area. I've continued to work with Tom so I learn more about how the body should move correctly.I couldn't recommend Tom and the team at Functional Patterns Dublin enough if you are in pain daily.The facilities and equipment are second to none. I started going to FP in the hope of improving my posture and general body mechanics. Tom is very good at explaining what we are doing and gives great detail. I am still amazed at the before and after photos of my posture. I highly recommend FP. Working with Tom for the past year and a half on a serious ankle issue. Spent a year and a half prior to that seeing consultants getting injections etc with no real progress. Eventually booked a session with functional patterns and have gone from hobbling around in constant pain with a very pronounced limp to no limp and from short painful walks on the beach to hill walking. Saludos FP Dublin! Great facility, great trainers, great benefits I visited Tom in FP in May 2022 after an MRI which diagnosed me with chondromalacia in both knees. I was in constant pain whenever I moved. I am learning how to move better and the exercises and online course has helped me gain understanding about muscles and fascia. There is still a long way to go but overall I’m very happy with Tom and FP and I am now moving pain free! 😊😊 Totally recommend for kids I had chronic back pain for over 2 years. For 2 years I'd been religiously doing rehabilitation programmes perscribed by multiple physio therapists, with no success at reducing my back pain. After 4 months training with FP Dublin I not only gained a better understanding of how my body should behave stationary and in movement, but also greatly reduced the level of my back pain. Not only was my problem treated but I was also given an education about how every muscle in the body is interlinked and the importance of correct use. Thanks Paul!! Many thanks to Paul who helped me recover from an ankle injury. I was extremely nervous when I arrived for my assessment as my foot had been in a boot for 10 weeks and was still very swollen. Paul put together a plan for me to visit him twice a week for the first couple of weeks and I quickly saw a huge improvement in the movement of my ankle. I followed my weekly exercise plan and then when I had an appointment he worked on the injury. To my delight I am now feeling much better and improving every day. Thank you Paul for everything you have done I really appreciate it Paul was very helpful in the early stages of shoulder surgery rehabilitation. Hi everyone After experiencing sudden pain in the groin for over 2 months, I reached out to paul Gallagher who is with function patterns Dublin, paul took his time with the assessment and then did some work on me for six weeks, and as am writing this review, I have not had groin pain in the last 2weeks and am back running plus walking my dogs without pain, I highly would recommend function patterns Dublin and you will definitely get first class treatment from day one . I had been doing traditional weight lifting (Squats, Deadlifts etc.) for the five previous years! While I built up a nice bit of muscle it left my body moving in a very disfunctional manner! My shoulders where depressed, Scapula wining & knees turning in! I found the guys at functional patterns & they opened my eyes to an entire different style of training that was functional & enjoyable! They have brought me a long way to fixing the problems I managed to build up over the 5 previous years! I can say FP Dublin has been the best result so far. Completely opened my eyes to the "new" train of thought with regards physical fitness and injury rehab. Originally went to Tom with an ACL injury and now practice FP techniques in all gym sessions. If your looking for long term results, cant recommend enough. Visited FP Dublin after incurring a running injury. Tom's approach to remedying the issue was incredibly thorough involving a deep tissue massage, an in-depth analysis of gait and technique followed by a series of prescribed exercises I could do anywhere. He had me back running both stronger and more efficient within a fortnight. The holistic approach to moving and functioning properly from FP Dublin rings true no matter what age or level, prevention always better than cure! Two professionals dedicated to their craft. Meticulous analysis of your body mechanics with the view of pinpointing both the source and cause of your pain/discomfort.
