What Happens After Your Initial Assessment?

What Happens After Your Initial Assessment?

This is a question we often get asked, and one that can have a few different answers depending totally on individual client circumstances. Generally once you have completed your initial assessment we recommend coming for weekly or bi-weekly follow up sessions so that you can get a clear understanding of what your specific issues are, and how to apply Functional Patterns fundamental exercises.

Introductory Period

In this introductory period, clients may need more or less support depending on pain levels, previous activity history and exercise experience. Some clients will take more of an active roll in learning these basics, currently not have any injuries and can afford to do less frequent sessions. Others may be in acute or chronic pain, have little experience with training themselves and will be recommended to attend more frequently.

Group Classes

Once this introductory period is completed, we can spread sessions out over a longer period, and have a lot of supports in place for people to supplement one to one sessions and continue their education. We offer group classes that are available to clients who we feel are appropriate, and they can be a great way to get more focused practice in a group environment. We have classes for all levels from FP Fundamentals, to Advanced Dynamic and Mixed Levels.

Access to our facility

Something that may also dictate a clients treatment plan will be access to our facility. We have people who utilize our services from all over Ireland as well as overseas. For these people, we offer online sessions to supplement any in person sessions they can attend. Another great resource for people who cannot attend regularly due to travel, or even financial feasibility, is the Functional Patterns 10 week online course.

10 week online course

The Functional Patterns 10 week online course is a resource that can be purchased via the website for the original methodology in the US. It gives a great introduction to Functional Patterns and is something that we recommend to clients who cannot attend us regularly, or those who attend us regularly but want to really commit to understanding the system more deeply. It is not mandatory but something that allows clients to get more tuition outside of one to ones and group classes.

Education

Our goal is to provide people with an education on the nuts and bolts of how the human body works, how their body is currently functioning, and what is optimal in terms of human movement. As you can see from the above, this education can take many forms and is totally individualized depending on current circumstances, location, and willingness and motivation to learn.
