Biography

From a young age, Renata has been passionate about health and fitness, growing up in a military school where she played a wide range of sports. Initially aspiring to pursue medicine, her perspective shifted after undergoing a series of surgeries. During recovery, she realised that what she missed most was movement, which led her to choose Physical Education as her career path. For Renata, movement represents life, and this belief drives her passion for helping others improve their health through exercise.

After secondary school, she studied at UFC (Federal University of Ceará, Brazil), graduating with an honours bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. Eager to expand her knowledge, she attended numerous courses on weightlifting, gymnastics, aerobic conditioning, functional training, CrossFit, kettlebell techniques, running, and more. These experiences enriched her understanding of performance enhancement, injury prevention, and training methodologies, eventually leading her to open her own gym in Brazil.

Renata gained extensive experience working with clients of all ages, both in group and individual settings. She also competed in sports herself, but persistent pain—despite following the “no pain, no gain” mentality left her disillusioned. Traditional recovery methods and mobility training failed to provide lasting relief, prompting her to reevaluate her approach to fitness. Determined to explore new avenues, she pursued further education, including a course at InCor (Heart Institute) titled Physical Exercises for Individuals with Heart Conditions, to better understand the positive impact of exercise on health.

In 2022, Renata moved to Ireland and discovered Functional Patterns. This methodology provided answers she had long sought, reigniting her passion for using movement as a tool to enhance health. Since then, she has completed the Human Foundations course, attended Anatomy Trains workshops focused on body reading, and committed to practising and refining her own biomechanics. Today, free from pain and with a renewed sense of vitality, she enjoys hobbies like jiu-jitsu and surfing.
