17 Mar Osteitis Pubis Resolved: Is Posture a big Piece of the Puzzle?
Seamus came to us in Feb 2022. He was dealing with suspected osteitis pubis and was totally unable to play soccer as a result. Any time he tried to play he would get a sharp pain in his adductor/medial hamstring insertion that was a 7 or 8/10, and he needed to stop immediately.
He had tried traditional physiotherapy, strength training, and the usual mobility drills with no success. He trained with us for 18 months about once per month and often less frequently. He did a total of about 15 sessions. Living over two hours away, he was unable to attend us regularly but was diligent with the 10-week online course and other online material from the functional patterns ecosystem.
Before
- Spinal protrusions in his mid spine, angling left
- Head and upper spine angling right
- Rib Cage shifted left
- Lack of core pressure
After
- Improved spinal alignment with no protrusion
- Better scapular stacking
- Improved core pressure
- More lean muscle mass
He is now playing soccer full-time as part of a university course as well as competing in 100m sprint races. He is totally pain free.
Seamus is a great example of why at FP, we focus on the system and not the symptoms. Spinal protrusions are a sign of poor spinal and core mechanics that have a knock of effect to multiple other parts of the body. Without accounting for this, it would be difficult to get a solution to this issue.
He is also a testament to hard work and taking an active role in the problem solving process. He went above and beyond to educate himself and put in work outside of our sessions by using FP online courses to further his knowledge.
