06 Oct Functional Fitness Classes in Dublin: New Beginner Term Starting
At Functional Patterns Dublin we offer beginner functional training classes running in 8 week blocks. We are delighted to announce that our next group will be kicking off on October 13th and we are already fully booked.
Who Is It For?
Our fundamentals or beginner class is for absolutely anyone who is looking to learn more about their body and improve their overall fitness. We often get enquiries asking about our services and how people can get involved. This class is a fantastic starting point for anyone who is totally new to Functional Patterns.
Whether you are in pain and trying to understand what is going on in your body, or simply wanting to get stronger but without risking injury in the gym, this class is for you. We have found that people generally hurt themselves when trying to improve their strength and fitness particularly in the traditional gym class setting.
HIIT classes involving loading the body in less than ideal ways under huge fatigue often cause people’s bodies to break down over time. They may get a “workout”, but are often left in discomfort as a result. That’s why we have designed this course. To take the guess work out of training and help people begin to gradually increase the load they put on their body in a safe way, leaving them feeling better over time and able to do more with their bodies.
What Is Included?
As part of the 8 week sign up, all new clients will receive a 30 minute full body gait and posture assessment to help them better understand any structural issues they may have before starting, and ensure they get the most out of the class. For those who have already done an initial assessment with us they can jump straight into the class. The course itself will consist of 8 classes of 1 hour duration running for 8 consecutive weeks. Participants will also be provided with a lacrosse ball for doing self message techniques in the class and at home.
What Is Covered In The Classes?
Classes will cover the fundamental aspects of Functional Patterns. We will start with self myofascial release techniques in order to hydrate muscles and fascia and prepare them for better integration (see related blog on what is MFR – https://functionalpatternsdublin.com/what-is-self-myofascial-release/).
Following this, we will begin to work through corrective exercises that we use with our clients day to day to help them correct their posture and set them up for better movement (see related blog what are FP Fundamentals – https://functionalpatternsdublin.com/what-are-the-functional-patterns-fundamentals/). These include things like planks, squats, rows to name a few.
As the 8 weeks progress we will start to think more about dynamic exercises and how these fundamentals can be brought into full body movements. We will make use of the fantastic studio we have with cable machines, dumbbells, medicine balls and much more to get people moving towards more intense exercise.
What Happens After The 8 Weeks?
After the 8 weeks participants will be eligible for our more advanced classes once they have been vetted by our practitioners as safe to do so. As well as this, we always recommend that people try to do some one to one training with one of our practitioners on a semi regular basis. This is not mandatory, but we find that those who use classes to supplement private sessions can get much more specific help for their issues, and often get better results from their training.
Other Things To Note
Our Beginner classes will never have more than 8 participants and often have two practitioners leading the class. This ensures the highest quality training and individualized cueing for your specific issues. When people attend our advanced classes we limit the participants to 6 people as more space is needed for dynamic movements. If you would like to join the waiting list for our next group, send us a message today and let’s get you started!
