FP Dublin Welcomes Golf Pro From Belgium for Intensive Training

We were delighted to welcome golf professional Richard to Functional Patterns Dublin this week for an intensive training block. Richard not is not only a golf pro, but professional hockey player to boot. He has been using the Functional Patterns method himself for over a year, and was looking to get in person sessions to help him deal with an ongoing issue he has been having.

Three years ago he ruptured his ACL in a hockey game and underwent reconstructive surgery following the event. He had initially recovered using traditional rehab and training methods, but he has problems with his knee ever since. He has managed to play hockey with a restricted training and game regime but recently his knee pain became bad enough again that he has had to stop totally. Luckily his golfing is less affected and he continues to play at professional level.

We trained intensely for four days. Two hours each day, and the visit was a big success. We got a much better understanding of why he continues to have problems during his gait and posture assessment, and spent our time working on imbalances that showed up in order to help resolve his knee issue. Golf and hockey are very asymmetrical sports by nature, so building better symmetry and an ability to get out of the positions found in those sports is crucial.

During Richard’s visit he got a lot of tools to take back home with him, and we will continue to add to these and train online in the near future. It was a pleasure having someone visit who is so dedicated to his craft, teaching other, and the art of biomechanics.

Who Would Benefit From Intensive Training With Us?

We offer intensive training blocks like this for anyone looking to understand their issues and do a concentrated amount of work done in a short amount of time. This is a great option for people aware of Functional Patterns but not in a position to attend high level practitioners in person regularly.

We have had a multitude of different types of people visit us from all over the world, all with one thing in common. They are looking to be educated and start to get a better understanding regarding how to look after their body. From professional athletes to people in debilitating chronic pain, Functional Patterns is for anyone looking for answers.
